Littleton police are investigating a string of recent break-ins and thefts.

According to police reports, there have been several cases of criminal trespass to a vehicle and home or business burglaries since June 21.

On June 21, about $880 dollars was taken from a bill changer and register during a 4 a.m. break-in at Speed Queen Laundromat on Littleton Boulevard. A suspect was caught on camera and three fingerprints were lifted from the scene, but police have no suspects.

Tires, wheels, a navigation system, two DVD players, an amplifier and plastic dash components, worth a total estimated $6,000 were taken from a vehicle July 6 at Go Chrysler and Jeep on South Broadway.

Items were reported stolen from cars and homes in at least three separate incidents on South Federal Circle. Power tools and electronics worth an estimated $1,100 were taken from a vehicle on June 21. In another incident a computer, iPod, CDs and gym bag were reported stolen out of a car July 6. On June 27 a couple reported that their engagement rings and a watch, worth nearly $2,600 were stolen from their home.

There are no suspects and all of the crimes remain unsolved.

Lt. Sean Dugan of the Littleton Police Department said he does not know whether the incidents are related.

"(It's) hard to say whether one criminal trespass (car break-in) or another is related since they are so similar in terms of during evening hours, opening unlocked vehicles, ransacking interiors, etc.," Dugan said.

Dugan said he does not believe there has been an inordinate increase recently in the amount of thefts, burglaries, breaking and enterings or other similar crimes.

Dugan said residents should lock their car doors and keep their garage doors closed, even when they are home. He added that residents should report suspicious people and not worry that they are bothering the police.

"We want to go to calls of suspicious people, whenever and wherever they are," Dugan said. "We would much rather prevent these types of crimes by intervening before they happen, then have to complete a 'cold' (after the fact) report when they do happen."
