Thief swipes jewelry from Fords Jewelers in Woodbridge Posted: 30 Sep 2010 10:49 AM PDT WOODBRIDGE — Police are still investigating the Monday morning theft of more than $9,000 worth of diamond jewelry from Fords Jewelers. At around 10:30 a.m., a man entered the store at 449 New Brunswick Ave. and asked to see engagement rings, said Capt. Roy Hoppock of Woodbridge Police Department. When an employee began to show merchandise to the man, he grabbed two rings from a display case and ran out the door toward nearby William Street, Hoppock said. Police were unable to locate the thief, who fled on foot through nearby yards. One ring was valued at $4,300 and another at $4,900, Hoppock said. Representatives of Fords Jewelers did return a call for comment. Woodbridge police asked anyone with to details to contact Det. Santiago Tapia in the detective bureau at 732-634-7700.
