"As far as engagement ring styles we are seeing trends towards what are called frame style rings - single larger center diamonds with frame of diamonds around the center diamond and then we are seeing still a lot of solitaire selling with diamond bands " said Patrick Pugh, Owner of Pugh's Diamond Jewelers No matter the size or style it is an investment and who you buy your ring from is important. "Know and trust the person you are dealing with if you are buying online or in a jewelry store you still need to know and check out who you are buying from" said Pugh. Part of gaining trust is getting to know eachother. Pugh's Diamond Jeweler's asks how long the couple has known each other, how they met and how the man plans to ask. " I have heard some good ones - I heard a guy that used an airplane to propose and a sign - the airplane pulling a sign" said Pugh. Women tend to have a style ring they like or a brand they know they want. Magazines and commercials also help a woman decide what she likes. The biggest trend in diamond engagement rings is white gold and may be a good idea for the guy to ask the woman what she likes before he buys the ring. There are also trends in rings for men. Especially since price of gold is so high. "Well for a man as far as wedding bands the big thing right now are alternative metals gold is so expensive" said Pugh. Other than those popping the question on Valentine's Day there are other affordable gift ideas like diamond key necklaces, the Knot necklaces and Pandora.
