Win an engagement ring from jewelry designer to the stars, Neil Lane Posted: 09 Feb 2011 08:16 PM PST Jewelry designer to the stars, Neil Lane, will be making an appearance at Kay Jewelers On Saturday February 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. only, at Arrowhead Towne Center. Lane will be present at 1:30 p.m., for a sweepstakes prize drawing. Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. contestants can fill out a raffle form and one lucky person will be chosen to win a ring and a consultation with Neil himself. The winner will be able to choose a ring from four selections of Lane's new line of engagement rings exclusively at Kay Jewelers. The affordable line of vintage inspired wedding and engagement rings lets brides capture the look of Hollywood. "My relationship with Kay Jewelers is very special to me because we are reaching a broader audience and I can bring my aesthetics and the magic and glamour of Hollywood to all of America," Lane said. Neil has designed jewelry and engagement rings for the stars of Hollywood for more than 20 years. He has also appeared on the hit TV shows "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." His celebrity clientele include, Jennifer Hudson, Emily Blunt, Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Barbara Streisand, Nicole Richie, Raquel Welch, and LeAnn Rimes to name a few. Goldie Hawn was one of Lane's first celebrity clients. "Goldie used to come into my store, and she would bring Kate, when she was a baby," Lane reminisced. "Of course Kate being a toddler, would sit on the floor and play with the jewelry and put the rings and the bracelets on. Then when Kate grew up and got engaged, Goldie told her, 'you have to go to Neil!" With Valentine's Day approaching, Lane claims the time has never been better for couples considering an engagement to go look at rings together. "We are seeing a return to romance and tradition," Lane said. "Men are getting down on one knee and asking for the father's permission, first. People ask me if I think it is cliché to propose on Valentine's Day, and I say, absolutely not. Love is in the air. I think it is one of the best and most romantic times to propose." With all the jewelry stores and ring options today, it would be easy for a couple to feel overwhelmed. However, with Kay's and Lane's large selection, the options are limitless. "With my line of rings at Kay, we have 36 designs, so there truly is something for everyone." When asked if he thought it was important for couples to shop together before making a purchase, Neil agreed it was very important. "It is very important for the guy to know his girlfriend's taste," Lane said. "It is something she will wear everyday and it should suit her lifestyle. If she is very feminine you could choose a ring with a lot of intricate design work, if she has a more simple style, perhaps something with clean and classic lines." Neil claims that along with being a sign of commitment, engagement rings have become very stylish and individualistic. "Nowadays a woman's engagement ring says a lot about her as a person; it talks about who she is." Although Lane has professionally designed jewelry for the last 20 years, his passion and love for design began much earlier. "As a child I was always fascinated by colored glass, pebbles, stones and shiny objects. My mother would take me to the park when I was little and on our way there, I would fill my pockets with things I would find in the street." Neil's passion continued to grow as he aged. "When I was 18, I was studying art in Paris and discovered my love of vintage jewelry," Lane said. "There were the most beautiful jewelry shops in Paris and I was fascinated with the intricate craftsmanship and old world style. Even the Eiffel Tower influenced me." Lane claimed the impression of the jewelry, art, and architecture in Paris stayed with him forever. It was in his 20s that Lane thought he could make his passion a serious career. In the late 1980s he opened his store in Los Angeles. Although he has worked with some of the most high profile women in the world, Lane claims each time he meets with a couple, whether they are famous or not, the same feelings are present. "The consultation is the same as if it were with any girl," Lane said. "It's no different whether in Hollywood or Peoria; they want a beautiful ring that represents them."
